For visitors from England
or the Borders, South-West Scotland is closer than the Highlands, yet offers beautiful scenery, forest and coastal walks and
so much more.
From England and the east, take the A75
off the M6/M74 at Gretna heading towards Dumfries and Stranraer.
Continue on the A75 past Dumfries until you reach Newton Stewart (approximately 1 hour 25 minutes). At Newton Stewart
A75 roundabout, turn left towards Wigtown on the A714. A mile before Wigtown, take the B7005 to Bladnoch heading towards Whithorn.
You will pass the Bladnoch Distillery and cross a small bridge. Just before the village of Kirkinner, take the B7085 through
Whauphill to Port William, then the A747 coast road to Whithorn.
Craigdhu is along a farm road about two miles after leaving the village of Monreith.
From the north, take the scenic A77 coast road from Ayr to Stranraer, then the A75 to Glenluce
and join the A747 signposted Port William and Whithorn.
